Rocking an influential laid-back flow and radiating an easy country-fried charm, Tallahassee's Wizz Havinn is Florida to the bone. Embracing his role as a hood superhero, the rising rapper dares his haters to say something with "Check Me," his new video single. Aided by an imperious instrumental from Sunshine State sound architect Ddot Freezing (Real Boston Richey, Luh Tyler, Veeze), Wizz affirms his status as the littest in his city, stacking assonant flexes in between his signature "uhhh" ad-libs: "If you lookin for me, I'll be where the check be," insists the young rapper. In the video, directed by Killerjack, Wizz gives a glimpse into his country lifestyle, as he dances with welding gear in an auto bodyshop, starts a bonfire when the sun goes down, and gets a brand new face tattoo.

A highlight track from his upcoming Super Wizz project, "Check Me" continues a recent hot streak for the buzzing North Florida rapper. First emerging last year with songs like the Pitchfork-praised "Water Running," Wizz Havinn immediately made an impact with his flow, which sits slightly behind the beat, ending each line with an upward inflection that makes him sound surprised by his own high-quality flexes. His flow inspired the sound of fellow Tallahassee breakout Luh Tyler, who has credited Wizz as a direct influence. In December 2022, Wizz garnered critical acclaim for his debut project Mr. Too Sticky, earning praise from Pitchfork and The FADER, who called Mr. Too Sticky, "the first good rap tape of 2023." The tape gave a permanent home to street hits like "Mode," which generated over 1.8 million views on YouTube, "Not Worthy," and the FADER-acclaimed "C-Class." When not rhyming, the young father enjoys fishing in the Panhandle's abundant swamps and cooking up meals in his kitchen.

With a high profile in Florida and his sights set on the rest of the country, Wizz Havinn is priming for a breakout moment. Stay tuned for Super Wizz, coming soon, in which the young rapper proves that he's the hero that we deserve, and the hero we need right now.
