WAZTELAND WARRIORS ARE ON THE RISE

The Westleaf

What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is hip hop group, Wazteland Warriors. Wazteland Warriors is a group straight out of Kansas City, Missouri. Their sound is a mix between Wu Tang Clan and Outkast. It's definitely different and clearly born from their individuality and passion. We've been wanting to catch up with them for a while and we finally locked in for an interview. Check out the entire vibe below.

Westleaf Staff: What's up y'all? Your brand is dope. When did you start making music?

Wazteland Warriors: 11-11-11.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! 12 is early. What city do you represent?

Wazteland Warriors: Kansas City, Missouri.

Westleaf Staff: Cool! Shout out to Kansas City! So how did you create your stage name?

Wazteland Warriors: We all were given our individual names. However, collectively we are the Wazteland Warriorz because we are Warriors fighting a war to keep something bad from happening in this reality that already occurred in our reality.

Westleaf Staff: Nice. I love that your name has meaning! How did your early life shape your interest in music?

Wazteland Warriors: Early life for all of us was very different in our reality. We literally watched everything fall apart. C-Cole-I saw the absolute worst in human kind through science.

Westleaf Staff: That sounds deep. Glad to see you're out here expressing yourselves. Who is your biggest musical influence?

Wazteland Warrior: Life in General.

Westleaf Staff: That's real. So what's been the defining moment in your music career thus far?

Wazteland Warriors: Our next greatest accomplishment. We’re out here for a reason. Not accolades. We’re here to deliver an important message to the world. You can’t define what we’re doing by one moment.

Westleaf Staff: I feel that. It's nice to see musicians with a message. So what makes your group unique?

Wazteland Warriors: We don’t have just one sound. We are like the Jeet Kune Do of the Industry when it comes to style or genre. We draw from life and thus have no box. You can’t really put life in a box… therefore we don’t have a box we fit in.

Westleaf Staff: Nice. You guys are super talented, too. What does art mean to you?

Wazteland Warriors: A great universal language that smashes all barriers. When languages fail; when emotions can’t be put into words, Art is the language that everyone can understand.

Westleaf Staff: True. Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?

Wazteland Warriors:Our next and last album Solomon’z Box along with a number of Singles and EPs being released globally via our independent label 13th ShockRA. A few major tours under our belt and then prepare for what’s next.

Westleaf Staff: You got this! Before you go, describe music in three words for us.

Wazteland Warriors: The Universal Language.
