What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is producer, Strazdine. Strazdine is straight out of Vancouver, Canada with the work ethic and hits to match. Strazdine is also the CEO of ProducerFix.com which is a rapidly expanding music producer community, pooling over 50 entrepreneurs experienced in sound design, music production, and creating sound kits.
The Vancouver based producer has been on our radar for a while so we had to tap in with him! Check out the interview below.
Westleaf Staff: What's up, Strazdine? Thanks for sitting down with us. When did you start making music?
Strazdine: I've been making music my whole life; I started as a kid playing drums and piano. I didn't take it seriously until after high school, and I was writing a lot of songs. I decided to make my own beat to record vocals on, and I instantly fell in love with making beats. I've been obsessed with producing ever since.
Westleaf Staff: That's dope! What city do you represent?
Strazdine: Vancouver, Canada.
Westleaf Staff: Shout out to Canada! So how did you create your stage name?
Strazdine: My stage name "Strazdine" is my last name.
Westleaf Staff: That's a dope name. Super creative! So how did your early life shape your interest in music?
Strazdine: My interest in music started with soundtracks from my favorite video games. Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, etc. A lot of timeless compositions that bring back so much emotion and nostalgia whenever I hear them.
Westleaf Staff: Dope! That's inspiring. I love Zelda. So who is your biggest Musical influence?
Strazdine: I'm a fan of so many genres, it would be too hard to credit one artist, producer, or band. Although I do mainly create Hip Hop beats. My top 5 for who I've listened to the most over the years would be (in no specific order).
Westleaf Staff: Dope! I feel that. What's been the defining moment in your music career thus far?
Strazdine: I received my first platinum plaque for reaching one million streams on Beatstars. Ever since then I've been focused more than ever, releasing songs with a new artist every few days.
Westleaf Staff: That's dope! Congrats on your accomplishments. So what makes you a unique artist?
Strazdine: My versatility. I'm a fan of so many genres, and I'm constantly listening to new music every day. At this point in my career, I believe that I can compose any type of music if I put my mind to it, while still adding my own style to the track.
Westleaf Staff: Dope! So what does art mean to you?
Strazdine: Art is magic. It's my way of expressing myself without an explanation. I use music as a form of therapy.
Westleaf Staff: That's deep! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?
Strazdine: Over the next few years, I plan on staying consistent and releasing a song every few days with a new artist. I'd like to keep collaborating, growing my catalog, and perfecting my craft to get better and better.
Westleaf Staff: I wish you much success! Before we go, describe music in three words.
Strazdine: Magical. Nostalgic. Hypnotic.
