What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is rapper, Outsider. Outsider reps Sweetwater, Tennessee where he planted his early music roots. Outsider's sound is a barsy reflection of his everyday reality, giving fans an intimate look into his life. The Tennessee based MC is gaining a buzz in his town so we had to tap in with him! Check out the interview below. Westleaf Staff: What's up, Outsider? Your sound is dope. When did you start making music? Outsider: Around 2017.

Westleaf Staff: That's dope! What city do you represent? Outsider: Sweetwater, Tennessee.

Westleaf Staff: Shoutout to Sweetwater! So how did you create your stage name? Outsider: I’ve been an outsider my whole life, it really just came naturally to me


Westleaf Staff: I like that your name has meaning . So how did your early life shape your interest in music? Outsider: I’ve always loved music as a kid. I thought instruments were so cool. My dad taught me how to play bass when I was about 8 years old and it’s been my obsession since!!


Westleaf Staff: So who is your biggest Musical influence? Outsider: When I started making my own music my biggest influence was XXXtentacion but recently my biggest influence is a rapper named Quadeca.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Those are some legends! What's been the defining moment in your music career thus far? Outsider: There’s a bunch to choose from, from my first show, to dropping my first album, but I feel like my most defining moment has yet to happen. Westleaf Staff: So cool! It's coming! So what makes you a unique artist? Outsider: I produce, engineer, record and write most of my music sometime I don’t produce my own stuff. And I don’t just stick to one genre and stay I make all different types of music

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Much respect. So what does art mean to you? Outsider: I mean it means everything to me, I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for music.

Westleaf Staff: That's deep! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years? Outsider: Hopefully I’ll be living off of my music, that’s the goal.
