What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is rapper, Novacain420. Novacain420 reps Hollywood, Florida by way of Baltimore, Maryland. Nova started making music at 17 after he lost his sight to a rare disease called Leber's . Nova's sound is a merge between Future, Fetty Wap, and Travis Scott. The South Florida artist has been on our radar for a while so we had to tap in with him! Check out the interview below.
Westleaf Staff: What's up, Novacain? Your sound is dope. When did you start making music?
Novacain420: 10 years ago I was playing around with it but actually making music was about 5 years ago.
Westleaf Staff: That's dope! What city do you represent?
Novacain420: Fredricksburgh Virgina will always be my home town but south Florida is I were I feel at home.
Westleaf Staff: Shout out to South Flloridda. Y'all have a lot of talent. So how did you create your stage name?
Novacain420: Im from northern Virgina and I walk with a cain and I smoke a-lot of weed that's how you get Novacain420.
Westleaf Staff: I love that. I think it's dope that your name comes from your life experience. So how did your early life shape your interest in music?
Novacain420: To be honest I really didn't start taking music serious until after I went blind
Westleaf Staff: That's an inspiring introduction to music. So who is your biggest Musical influence?
Novacain420: I'm very influenced by Wiz khalifa, Travis Scott, and Future.
Westleaf Staff: Dope! Those are some legends. What's been the defining moment in your music career thus far?
Novacain420: Being the first blind rapper to hit 1 million streams on spotify
Westleaf Staff: So cool! Salute for dropping that accomplishment. So what makes you a unique artist?
Novacain420: Well besides the fact of me being a blind rap artist who jumps off stages like daredevil. I'm not afraid to embrace my masculine and feminine energy. I approach music with a psychological and scientific stance.
Westleaf Staff: Dope! Gotta do you. Much respect. So what does art mean to you?
Novacain420: Pussy, money, weed. lol
Westleaf Staff: That's deep! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?
Novacain420: Im trying to be on some lil Wayne cash money ish, touring and owning my own label Bass gang.
