What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is artist, Versa Clean. Versa reps NYC and his gritty home grown bars paint a vivid picture of his urban reality. We can definitely see Versa performing on stages such as Rolling Loud or Coachella. The NY based MC is making moves in his town so we had to tap in with him! Check out the interview below.

Westleaf Staff: What's up, Versa? Your sound is dope. When did you start making music?

Versa Clean: It started off as a joke that some friends wanted me to do one day I decided that I’m going to actually try soon I figured that I was actually decent at rapping and decided to give it a try.

Westleaf Staff: That's dope! What city do you represent?

Versa Clean: New York City.

Westleaf Staff: Shoutout to NY. So how did you create your stage name?

Versa Clean: No funny shit I was looking at my vacuum cleaner and said damn I kinda like the name versa clean because I’m very versatile and my bars are clean.

Westleaf Staff: Ha! That's definitely a unique way to come up with your name. So how did your early life shape your interest in music?

Versa Clean: I’m from New York City home of rap so rap was definitely in my everyday life. I cannot remember a moment in my life when I wasn’t listening to hip hop from Notorious BIG Mo Money Mo Problems to Pop Smoke's Dior. NY basically gave me the love of hip hop.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! So who is your biggest Musical influence?

Versa Clean: Eminem, Lil Wayne, 50 cent, Migos.

Westleaf Staff: Great choice. Those are some legends. So what makes you a unique artist?

Versa Clean: I would say my unique energy to a song my songs are always hype and put u in the mood to go crazy in the car and just rock out.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Much respect. So what does art mean to you?

Versa Clean: Anything the mind can grasp.

Westleaf Staff: That's deep! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?

Versa Clean: I’ll have a voice and hopefully just make a change in the community. I want to give back and hopefully bring the world together with my music or have an influence with my music.

Westleaf Staff: I wish you much success this year! Before we go, describe music in three words.

Versa Clean: Power. Art. Creativity.
