What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is artist, Muzik D-Will. Muzik reps Lancing, Michigan and his gritty bars paint a vivid picture of his midwest reality. We can definitely see D-Will performing on stages such as Rolling Loud or Coachella. The Michigan based MC is making moves in his town so we had to tap in with him! Check out the interview below.
Westleaf Staff: What's up, D? Your sound is dope. When did you start making music? Muzik D-Will: I started making music in a bedroom studio at age 15.
Westleaf Staff: That's dope! What city do you represent?
Muzik D-Will: I represent a small town in Michigan called “Lansing” Aka “The L” or “Cap City”.
Westleaf Staff: Shoutout to Lansing. So how did you create your stage name? Muzik D-Will: 10. My original stage name was “Lil’D” then some of my homies I started rapping with gave me the name “D-Will” which is the initial of my first name and half of my last name.
Westleaf Staff: Dope way to come up with your name. So how did your early life shape your interest in music? Muzik D-Will: I remember me and my siblings watching Snoop And Dre “Nothing But A G-Thang video on tv, and that’s what made me want to rap.
Westleaf Staff: Dope! Starting young is a W. So who is your biggest Musical influence?
Muzik D-Will: Growing up my music influences were Snoop Dogg, Dr.Dre, NWA, Tupac, Biggie, No Limit, Cash Money, Jay-Z, J Prince, Ice Cube, 50 Cent, The Game, Lil Boosie, Lil Flip. Nowadays my influences are Lil Baby, CMG, Nipsey Hussle, and Kanye West.
Westleaf Staff: Great choice. Those are some legends. So what makes you a unique artist? Muzik D-Will: I have my own sound, look, and style.
Westleaf Staff: Dope! Much respect. So what does art mean to you? Muzik D-Will: To me “Art” means “Creating”.
Westleaf Staff: That's deep! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years? Muzik D-Will: I see my music career in the next few years shooting above the top!
