Westleaf Staff

What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is hip hop artist, Day Tyme. Day Tyme is an artist straight out of Park Hills, Missouri. Day Tyme's style is a mix of gritty and Melodic . He has anthems for the ladies such as "Another Sad Song" but he also has hard hitting bops such as "Cake Maker". Day Tyme is also a unique artist because he is one hundred percent blind which the MC says does not slow him down one bit. When listening to Day Tyme it's easy to see that he's a talented MC whose drive is going to take him far. We were fortunate enough to link up with Day Tyme recently to discuss his music and life. Check out the interview below.

Westleaf Staff: What's up Day Tyme? We love your vibe. What city do you represent?

Day Tyme: Park Hills, Missouri.

Westleaf Staff: Okay that's dope. I think I've heard of it. So how did you create your stage name?

Day Tyme: I was in my room smoking a fat blunt and I created a spin-off using my first and last name Damon Tyson

Westleaf Staff: Ha! Real. So how did your early life shape your interest in music?

Day Tyme: I was around a diverse group of people from my family and being in school so it really put me on to a lot of different types of genres of music and I learned to appreciate all different types.

Westleaf Staff: It's cool that you. have a diverse taste in music. Who is your biggest Musical influence?

Day Tyme: Drake because he always shows that he can reach a new level and Juice Wrld because I really related to a lot of his music and I wish to follow in his footsteps.

Westleaf Staff: Drake is on everyones list! Good choice. So let's discuss what's been going on with your music so far. What has been the defining moment in your music career?

Day Tyme: I performed at Fubar in St Louis Missouri. I shut the place down with a killer performance and before I walked off stage the crowd was singing my song acapella and everybody was turnt up.

Westleaf Staff: Fire! It's every MC's dream to have the crowd jumping for them. So how do you do it? What makes you a unique artist?

Day Tyme: I'm not just a hip hop artist I'm a person who is 100% blind and I go through normal people stuff everyday and fight my own demons. What really makes me special is I try my best to make it in a world that's not made for someone like me but I'm going harder than most of the people with that advantage over me.

Westleaf Staff: What does art mean to you?

Day Tyme: Art is expressing the way you feel through multiple methods.

Westleaf Staff: Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?

Day Tyme: I see it bubbling up real nicely and before you know it I'll be opening up for some of the big time artists and known all over.

Westleaf Staff: Describe music in three words.

Day Tyme: Life, influential, creativity.
