GEORGIA RAPPER BOSKOE IS ON THE RISE

Westleaf Staff

What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is artist, Boskoe. Boskoe reps Milledgevillle, GA but his sound is international. We can definitely see Boskoe touring globally with his hip-"pop" sound. The Georgia based MC is making moves in his town so we had to tap in with him! Check out the interview below.

Westleaf Staff: What's up, Boskoe? Your sound is unique. When did you start making music?

Boskoe: I made my first song at about 4-5 years old, my big brother used to make music and he put me on a song with him as a joke. I never forgot the experience though, it always stuck with me. I always made stuff on my phone growing up but I just looked at it as having fun.

Westleaf Staff: That's dope! What city do you represent?

Boskoe: Milledgeville, GA to the fullest, but I got mad love for Atlanta.

Westleaf Staff: Shoutout to Milledgeville. So how did you create your stage name?

Boskoe: Boskoe was given to me by an older family member, it always stuck in my head, I named one of my pet dogs that but unfortunately he passed away kind of young. Same with the family member I got the name from. I made music before I decided to push Boskoe as my name, but I didn’t take it seriously until I took the name on.

Westleaf Staff: Dope way to come up with your name. So how did your early life shape your interest in music?

Boskoe I had a few cousins who were into music and their friends as well, so it naturally rubbed off onto me. I listened to a lot of different people and types of music growing up. I picked up on a lot of stuff from music. Lil Wayne was a big influence growing up, he made me know I could definitely be a black rockstar.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Being inspired by family is dope. So who is your biggest Musical influence?

Boskoe: Lil Wayne was definitely a big influence on me as a kid and even til this day, but it’s hard to pick between him, Playboi Carti, Chief Keef and Young Thug.

Westleaf Staff:Those are some legends! Great choice. So what's been the defining moment in your music career so far?

Boskoe: It’s hard to say one defining moment because I don’t feel I’ve had one yet, but one of the craziest has to be one of my old high school teachers reaching out to me and asking for a feature.

Westleaf Staff: That's definitely wild. So what makes you a unique artist?

Boskoe: I feel like I’m a unique artist because everything I do comes from within. Most artists make trending music. I make whatever I’m feeling at that moment. I can go from rock, to pop, to rap, to country, the options are endless . The songs don’t feel forced either, they come natural, I’m full of so many sounds, it’s hard to box me in one genre. You can’t box me in one genre. I’m a true artist

Westleaf Staff: Dope! You're super versatile. Much respect. So what does art mean to you?

Boskoe: Art is life. I look at just about everything as art, because honestly it is. Everything that we see around us is art, I let the world be my art pad. I love expressing myself no matter how. Music is just one of many forms of art I use to express myself.

Westleaf Staff: That's deep! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?

Boskoe: Over the next few years I see myself expanding my cult following across the world. I see myself being a pioneer for a new sound in music. I know I’m going to be one of the artists to push a new sound out for the world to eat up.

Westleaf Staff: I wish you much success this year! Before we go, describe music in three words.

Boskoe: 7: Fun, Nostalgic, Therapy
