The Westleaf

What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is artist, Fatboy City. City is from Minnesota by way of Chicago. His music is is real and raw with a hint of pain similar to Rod Wave or Kevin Gates. We can definetlly see him performing on stages such as Coachella and Rolling Loud. The Minnesota based MC has been on our radar for a while so we had to tap in with him! Check out the interview below.

Westleaf Staff: What's up, City? Your sound is dope. When did you start making music?

Fatboy City: In my teens I became interested in music due to my older brother G Wells being serious with Rap and pursuing it. The first song I ever was featured on was a Hot Boys by Missy Elliot remake.

Westleaf Staff: That's dope! I know it went crazy! What city do you represent?

Faatboy City: I'm from Chicago, Illinois! But I represent Minnesota. I been here my whole life, on and off. We represent the city to the fullest.

Westleaf Staff: Shout out to Minnesota. So how did you create your stage name?

Fatboy City: Fatboy City just came from being in between names. I used to be Black City but decided I like the Fatboy City more. The name stuck after saying it in a freestyle!

Westleaf Staff: That's a dope name. And it came naturally! So how did your early life shape your interest in music?

Fatboy City: I come from the projects and poverty so my music is passionate and authentic. I make music for the people living and going through the struggle.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! It's cool that you do it for the people. So who is your biggest Musical influence?

Fatboy City: I would have to go with Jadakiss and Styles, Lil Wayne of course, J Cole, Fabolous and real bar for bar artistS! That's why my music is authentic but at the same time it's bars.

Westleaf Staff: Dope choices! What's been the defining moment in your music career thus far?

Fatboy City: Just being able to record and show my kids music and having people love something that I created is a proud moment.

Westleaf Staff: That's dope! It's definitely cool that you're creating a llegacy. So what makes you a unique artist?

Fatboy City: I rap about what other artists are scared to tap in to. The lows and the highs. Real hip hop content.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! So what does art mean to you?

Fatboy City: Expression of live life and pain. Take all that and try and create a vivid picture.

Westleaf Staff: True! That's deep! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?

Fatboy City: I think this our year. We need global exposure to give the game this real music and and at the same time bring bars back to this genre

Westleaf Staff: I wish you much success! Before we go, describe music in three words.

Fatboy City: Passionate, explosive, top tier.
