The Westleaf

What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is hip hop artist, Big Finny. Finny is an artist straight out of Boston. His flow is melodic with a dreamy element that draws listeners in. When listening to Big Finny it's easy to draw a connection to artists such as Uzi, Post Malone, and Travis Scott. Finny recently dropped a video for his track "Andale" which reveals his vocal range and overall versatility. We noticed Finny's momentum and we had to link with him for an On the Rise feature. Check out the interview below!

Westleaf Staff: What's up Big Finny? We love your vibe. When did you start making music?

Big Finny: I started performing cover songs of popular rock songs and drumming and singing back in 2017. I dabbled in recording my own original music and would often record some of my older artist friends. I then began releasing music onto YouTube under the name of Big Finny and then began my journey officially in 2019, with my first official single "Mf Livin".

Westleaf Staff: The rock origin is super different and dope! What city do you represent?

Big Finny: Boston, Massachusetts.

Westleaf Staff: Boston! Shoutout to the East Coast! How did you create your stage name?

Big Finny: It is me.

Westleaf Staff: Real. So how did your early life shape your interest in music?

Big Finnny: I grew up around music. My family used to have parties and we would play freeze dance. My dad plays the guitar and bass guitar. I would play the harmonica as a baby. And singing was something I have done from the beginning.

Westleaf Staff: It's dope to see you started so early. So who is your biggest Musical influence?

Big Finny: My biggest musical influence is the devil.

Westleaf Staff: Okay, that's different! What has been the defining moment in your music career?

Big Finny: The release of my album 111 on the 11th of January this new year was a milestone in my career. I have surpassed the thousands in monthly listeners on Spotify and have been releasing singles on the 11th of every month.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Good to see those constant releases! So what makes you a unique artist?

Big Finny: No one sounds like me. I am myself. And the second my voice comes on you know it’s Big Finny.

Westleaf Staff: That's true. Can't do anything but respect that! What does art mean to you?

Big Finny: I believe everyone at the center is an artist. Art is the way to give purpose to a non primitive life.

Westleaf Staff: Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?

Big Finny: I will be a charting artist with the next few years. I am going to be traveling the country performing my music and then the world.

Westleaf Staff: Describe music in three words.

Big Finny: Beat. Energy. Waves.
