What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is rapper, Justelibro. Eli reps Santa Rosa, California. Eli's sound is a merge between Future, Fetty Wap, and Travis Scott. Elli's. been been on our radar for a while so we had to tap in with him! Check out the interview below.

Westleaf Staff: What's up, Eli? Your sound is dope. When did you start making music?

JUSTELIBROO: I started making music in the early 2000s while in middle school. My math teacher started a music program and I was his first student. From there it was history.

Westleaf Staff: That's dope! What city do you represent?

JUSTELIBROO: Santa Rosa, Ca

Westleaf Staff: Shout out to California. Y'all have a lot of talent. So how did you create your stage name?

JUSTELIBROO: I was talking to a friend and he asked what my rap artist name was and I was like oh it’s just Eli bro. And he was like damn that sick, and I was confused like what’s sick about Eli? He was like oh I thought it was JustEliBro and I was like hehehe uhhh yea actually yea it is JustEliBro 😂.

Westleaf Staff: I love that. I think it's dope that your name comes from your life experience. So how did your early life shape your interest in music?

JUSTELIBROO: A lot of my musical taste back in the early days was formed by dancers or performers like Michael Jackson (I actually use to do the talent show at my elementary school like every year and I’d do the Michael Jackson dance), Usher, and Chris brown.

Westleaf Staff: That's an inspiring introduction to music. So who is your biggest Musical influence?

JUSTELIBROO: My biggest musical influence is Michael jackson, Drake, The Weeknd, and Cloudy Nueve.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Those are some legends. What's been the defining moment in your music career thus far?

JUSTELIBROO: I would say doing my first show of the year in 2022 and just the love that I got after it. I was performing a pretty sentimental song about heartbreak called B.O.M. and I got a lot of people that came up to me and told me that they resonated with the song 'cause they went through similar situations with their exs.

Westleaf Staff: So cool! Salute for that performance. So what makes you a unique artist?

JUSTELIBROO: I would say it’s that I have a unique sound. It’s like not so unique that people would say “what the heck is this” but it’s unique in the way that it sounds a bit mainstream but like alot of sick melodies and bar structure.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Gotta do you. Much respect. So what does art mean to you?

JUSTELIBROO: Art is medicine.

Westleaf Staff: That's deep! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?

JUSTELIBROO: I see myself signed and doing movies as well.

Westleaf Staff: I wish you much success this year! Before we go, describe music in three words.

JUSTELIBROO: Anti-psychotic-Substance
