What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is country trap artist, aGHAWK. aGHAWK is straight out of Nashville, Tennessee. His style is country but also trap, reminiscent of Jelly Roll or Tom MacDonald. It's clear when listening to aGHAWK that he's destined to make his mark in the country rap scene. aGHAWK'S been making waves in Tennessee with his sound so we had to tap in with him. Check out the interview below.

Westleaf Staff: What's up, Hawk? Your sound is awesome. When did you start making music?

aGHAWK: When I was 18 my best friend killed himself so I started making music as my coping strategy.

Westleaf Staff: It's cool to see that you can create something good from that situation. Salute. What city do you represent?

aGHAWK: Nashville 615.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Shout out to Tennessee! Y'all have some real talent down there. So how did you create your stage name?

aGHAWK: My first name starts with an a, the G doesn’t need to be explained, and hawk has been my nickname my whole life because of my last name.

Westleaf Staff: Nice. Hawk is a dope name. It's definitely powerful. So how did your early life shape your interest in music?

aGHAWK: Growing up my dad played Master P, Snoop, Eminem, and so many more artists. I love all types of music solely because he had me listing to 90s-2000s hits.

Westleaf Staff: Nice. Shoutout to your dad for creating that interest for you. So who is your biggest Musical influence?

aGHAWK: Jelly Roll.

Westleaf Staff: Nice. Jelly Roll is a legend! Next question! What's been the defining moment in your music career thus far?

aGHAWK: Opening for Jamie Ray.

Westleaf Staff: Wow! That's super dope. Congrats brother.

What makes you a unique artist?

aGHAWK: I’m very versatile.

aGHAWK: Something made from the heart.

aGHAWK: To the top honestly.
