SG LORENZO ON MUSIC, LIFE, AND SUCCESS

Westleaf Staff

What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is artist, SG Lorenzo. Renzo is straight out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. His bars are gritty and melodic like many of the East Coast greats. The Harrisburg based MC has been on our radar for a while so we had to tap in with him! Check out the interview below.

Westleaf Staff: What's up, Renzo? Your sound is dope. When did you start making music?

Renzo: Music been a part of me since I was about 3 years old but I didn’t start actually making music until I was about 10 or 11.

Westleaf Staff: That's dope! What city do you represent?

Renzo: UPTOWN HARRISBURG , PENNSYLVANIA.

Westleaf Staff: Shout out to Harrisburg. So how did you create your stage name?

Renzo: I’ve had so many names before this one, but I actually came across a girl who knew me but wasn’t sure of my name & she called me Lorenzo & it just stuck with me. The SG represents a friend that I’ve lost in 2016.

Westleaf Staff: That's a dope name and it has meaning. Salute. So how did your early life shape your interest in music?

Renzo: When I was younger my mom would sing some beautiful melodies and it would just capture me even when she was pregnant with me she sang. I can’t really explain how it shaped my life because since a baby I’ve always been about music.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Music runs through your veins. So who is your biggest Musical influence?

Renzo: My mother & my cousin, WorldWide Lau , are two very important people to me. They played a huge part in my career. Every time I felt down bout a song or something they would lift me up and speak life into me and help me build my confidence. Watching my cousin do what he did at the age I was at really inspired me and it made me wanna work harder towards my goals .

Westleaf Staff: Dope choices! Family is everything. What's been the defining moment in your music career thus far?

Renzo: I’ve had plenty of moments but if I had to choose I would say me making the sacrifices to perfect my craft , blocking out all distractions , missing out on fun , and not hanging out as much. I had to really focus and lock in with myself. Doing that helped me find my craft. A lot of people will say I’m good but I still feel like there’s more work to be done.

Westleaf Staff: That's dope! Self work is key! So what makes you a unique artist?

Renzo: What’s unique about me is my sound. I’m very versatile and I don’t sound like anyone else but me. The music industry today is not about real talent & music anymore. I feel as though when I make it, I will bring that spark back .

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Bring that spark back bro! So what does art mean to you?

Renzo: Art is simply just another form of expression , anything that’s creative is art.

Westleaf Staff: True! That's deep! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?

Renzo: I see myself accomplishing a lot and I see myself blowing up. Pretty soon I will be in the industry SG LORENZO REMEMBER THE NAME!!

Westleaf Staff: I wish you much success! Before we go, describe music in three words.

Renzo: Medication , creativity, and love.
