What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent.Today's guest is JNabe straight outta Kansas City, Kansas. JNabe's sound is gritty and motivating. His songs display themes of success and money which could lend one to deem his sound "hustler music". We can definitely see JNabe influencing large audiences with his pop influenced flavor. The Kansas City artist is making moves in his hometown so we had to tap in with him. Westleaf Staff: What's up, JNabe? When did you start making music?
JNabe: I started making music in 2020 during Covid.
Westleaf Staff: That's dope! So how did your early life shape your interest in music?
JNabe: I played viola and tenor saxophone in school. I also did choir. I was exposed to music at a young age by acts such as the Carpenters and The Monkees.
Westleaf Staff: That's dope. Shoutout to your early art days. What city do you represent?
JNabe: I represent Kansas City.
Westleaf Staff: Shout out to Kansas. Y'all have a lot of talent. So how did you create your stage name?
JNabe: I created my stage name from parts of my government name.
Westleaf Staff: I love that. So who is your biggest Musical influence?
JNabe: My biggest Musical influence is my mentor Nawlage.
Westleaf Staff: Dope! Shoutout to Nawlage! What's been the defining moment in your music career thus far?
JNabe: When I understood that I could make music from my own studio.
Westleaf Staff: That's real bro! So what does art mean to you?
JNabe: Art is a form of expression, art is everything from the clothes you wear to the food you eat. To me, art is life.
Westleaf Staff: Dope! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?
JNabe: No one can predict the future but I hope to make music with more artists in the future!
Westleaf Staff: Facts! What makes you a unique artist?
JNabe: My ability to work by myself but also working with other artists. I believe collaboration is a big thing in the music industry.
