Westleaf Staff: When did you start making music? Your sound is dope.

Julanna Jonas: I seriously started making music a year ago, before then I would just sing to everyone else’s music. I never believed that I could actually create music.

Westleaf Staff: How did your early life shape your interest in music?

Julanna Jonas: My early childhood shaped my current love for music in so many ways. I grew up in the church and my mom would always play gospel or soul everyday, and especially on the weekends when we would clean. After relocating from Trinidad in 2012 we started attending church again and it was there where I actually started singing in front of crowds.

Westleaf Staff:Who is your biggest musical influence?

Julanna Jonas: My biggest musical influence is Rihanna.

Westleaf Staff:What has been the defining moment in your music career?

Julanna Jonas: The defining moment in my music career was when I decided to actually take it serious. I made a conscious decision to set the fear aside and the most important I push I ever received was from my dad. We were having a conversation one day about everything I want to accomplish with my life on this earth and his words were “You can’t hide or keep quiet and expect people to know what you can do."

Westleaf Staff: What makes you a unique artist?

Julanna Jonas: My ability to adapt is what makes me a unique artist. My ability to go non-stop is what makes me a unique artist. I rarely ever complain about anything and I’m not saying that I go with anything and everything that’s thrown at me, I ask questions of course, but I don’t complain.

Westleaf Staff: What does art mean to you?

Julanna Jonas: To me art is meant to be used as a medium for unexplained, confused, and bottled up emotions. Art is meant to express emotions and thoughts whether real or not.

Westleaf Staff: Describe music in three words.

Julanna Jonas: Art, Opportunity, Mercenary.
