What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is, K Lane. K Lane is a Philly artist with a gritty east coast style. With precise and soul stirring bars about his upbringing and daily life, K Lane paints a vivid picture of what it's like to go from the bottom to the top. But enough from us, we linked up with K Lane recently to discuss his musical origins and his unique style.
Westleaf Staff: When did you start making music?
K Lane: I started making music around the age of 12-13.
Westleaf Staff: How did your early life shape your interest in music?
K Lane: I went through a lot growing up and I never really like talking to people about personal situations so I ended up finding a way to express my feelings through music.
Westleaf Staff: Who is your biggest musical influence?
K Lane: Meek Mill.
Westleaf Staff: What has been the defining moment in your music career?
K Lane: Being able to link up wit Blac Youngsta out in Okinawa, Japan and just him telling me to stay focused and never stop 'cause I’m gone make it.
Westleaf Staff: What makes you a unique artist?
K Lane: That I lived in Japan for 3 years, not everybody can say that. Im from North Philly so seeing both sides of the world and seeing a lot different shit just give me more motivation.
Westleaf Staff: What does art mean to you?
K Lane: Feelings being expressed vividly on canvas or through sounds.
Westleaf Staff: Describe music in three words.
K Lane: Harmonic. Melodic. Loud.
