HARLEM EMCEE 100GRAND ROYCE IS ON THE RISE

Westleaf Staff

What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is, 100GrandRoyce. Harlem emcee 100GrandRoyce doesn’t use hip hop for a quick come up or fame, but rather to wax poetic about his actual life experiences. On the technical side, you're getting an emcee that has a way of words to paint a picture for the listener while motivating them in the same track. What brings this all together is 100GrandRoyce’s marquee and unique ear for production. Guaranteed by 100Grand himself to bump in the whip, with over 10 releases under his belt and press from some of the biggest names in the World, there’s no excuse to not press play on the New York artist. As we head into 2022, 100Grandroyce is dropping new collaborations, new editions of previous projects & more, don’t get left behind. Check out 100GrandRoyce's interview below.

Westleaf Staff: When did you start making music?

100GrandRoyce: I started making music in high school, 10th grade

Westleaf Staff: How did your early life shape your interest in music?

100GrandRoyce: When I was young I couldn’t differentiate the hustlers from the rappers and vice versa, so I thought the lifestyle came from being the best artist and it made me study who they were and what made them the best, as I got older and got into the streets more I was able to take those experiences and translate them musically the way I studied the artists before me.

Westleaf Staff: Who is your biggest musical influence?

100GrandRoyce: BIG and Jadakiss.

Westleaf Staff: What has been the defining moment in your music career?

100GrandRoyce: Being brought on stage to rap by Jay Electronica at a sold out Webster Hall at an NERD concert in NYC

Westleaf Staff: What makes you a unique artist?

100GrandRoyce: In my opinion what makes me a unique artist is my beat selection, flow, wordplay and subject matter is what sets me apart Im more motivational than anything and I feel my flows and production always lead to a cohesive project.

Westleaf Staff: What does art mean to you?

100GrandRoyce: Art is life. The same way a life is brought onto earth, art is created from a person and passion. A blank canvas, beat, or paper turned into art is life.

Westleaf Staff: Describe music in three words.

100GrandRoyce: Hustle. Motivation. Soul.
