EMPIRE ANNOUNCES MO3'S SECOND POSTHUMOUS ALBUM "LEGEND"

Westleaf Staff

Dallas rapper Mo3 dazzled with his technical skill and touched hearts with his raw accounts of street living. Today, his estate partners with H$M Music / EMPIRE to announce Legend, the second posthumous album by Mo3. Dropping on what would've been the artist's 32nd birthday, Legend features unreleased gems from Mo3's vault, including the recent single "Tidal Wave," plus new collaborations with artists who knew or were inspired by the late rapper. Legend streams everywhere on May 31st, and is now available for pre-save.

Along with the announcement of the album, Mo3's estate shares "Blood Money" a new single and music video. The song recruits Finesse2Tymes to complement Mo3's cautionary tales about the streets, each rapper rhyming in rapid fashion about the cycle of violence perpetuated every day. Directed by Jay Pusha of Wet Visuals, the video, which honors Mo's memory and stars Finesse2Tymes, tells an all-too-common story of a group of young men using force to get ahead, without realizing that one act of violence simply creates an opportunity for revenge. Look for the video to drop at 4pm ET on H$M Music's YouTube.

The upcoming Legend album is the proper follow-up to Shottaz 4Eva (Deluxe), the 2021 posthumous album by Mo3. Peaking at #36 on the Billboard 200, the Shottaz 4eva album was a loving tribute to the rapper by those who loved him, welcoming guest appearances from Morray, Derez De'Shon, Foogiano, and Mo's friend and longtime collaborator Boosie Badazz. Shottaz 4Eva (Deluxe) is home to "Outside (Better Days)" ft. OG Bobby Billions, a heartbreaking account of street life that has become one of Mo3's most popular songs. The song spent multiple weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, racked up over 176 million YouTube views on its video (dedicated to Mo's memory), generated over 59 million Spotify streams, and earned a spot on Barack Obama's list of favorite songs of 2021.

Though Mo3 is no longer with us, his legacy continues to inspire a new wave of melodic rap. The artist animated the streets in Texas and beyond with songs like “Everybody,” which has over 100 million streams across platforms, and the Sam Cooke-sampling “Long Time Coming,” plus beloved albums like Osama and Badazz Mo3 (a collaboration with Boosie). The late artist’s family and team will continue to release music that he was able to record before his untimely passing. In the meantime, we honor Mo3 and his contributions to hip-hop by streaming "Tidal Wave" and "Blood Money," and standing by for the upcoming Legend.
