What's up Leafers? Welcome to the latest edition of On the Rise where we interview upcoming hip hop talent. Today's guest is DN The Musician straight outta Delhi, India. DN's sound is true to the old hip hop flavor and packed with conscious lyrics. The Dehli based artist is making moves in his hometown so we had to tap in with him. Checkout the interview below!

Westleaf Staff: What's up? Your vibe is dope. When did you start making music?

DN The Musician: When I was a teenager.

Westleaf Staff: That's fire! So how did your early life shape your interest in music?

DN The Musician: I was so much influenced by old school rap music because back then rap music had some meaning to it and every rapper had a story in their songs and this is the thing which is missing in today's rap the music is not the same anymore if you compare it with old school rap the beats has also changed.

Westleaf Staff: That's dope. Rap was so dope back then. The stories were the best. What city do you represent?

DN The Musician: Delhi, India.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Delhi! So how did you create your stage name?

DN The Musician: My real name is Nischal Dixit i just picked the first letter from my last name and first letter from my first name that makes 'DN' and I added 'The Musician' in it because I am a musician so that makes 'DN The Musician'.

Westleaf Staff: I love that. Super creative bro! So who is your biggest Musical influence?

DN The Musician: Michael Jackson.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! MJ is a legend! What's been the defining moment in your music career thus far?

DN The Musician: When I got featured on billboard and pitchfork blog.

Westleaf Staff: That's real bro! You going up! So what does art mean to you?

DN The Musician: All of my songs have a story I write meaningfully, if a rap song doesn't have a story or a meaning to it then it's not rap for me.

Westleaf Staff: Dope! Where do you see your music career going over the next few years?

DN The Musician: I'll keep on making music videos and do my best and hopefully I'll get something out of it.

Westleaf Staff: Facts! You can do it bro. What makes you a unique artist?

DN The Musician: The way I write.

Westleaf Staff: I wish you much success in your career! Before we go, describe music in three words.

DN The Musician: Meaningful, storytelling, art.
